A renowned social and political worker, Sitaram Kesri , who took active part in the Quit India Movement of 1942, started his career as a street drummer and announcer.

He was Union Minister during the reigns of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and P.V. Narasimha Rao as Prime Minister of India. Kesri also served as treasurer of the Congress party for more than a decade.
