G K Moopanar was an Indian National Congress leader, parliamentarian, and philanthropist. He was an All India Congress Committee general secretary from 1980 to 1988. Moopanar was a close associate of Congress leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, K Kamaraj. Moopanar founded the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) party.

Moopanar's humility and amiability were striking qualities. He supported the education of hundreds of poor students by paying their fees. Moopanar donated money for various good causes but never sought publicity for these acts.
